I where did I make a mistake? why can’t I quickly and accurately draw the shape of the grid drawn on the lower layer?

I think the reason you can’t see the grid is because maybe the surface (yellow one) is not 100% on the floor? In this case, I recommend creating a single-point sketch-plan based on one of the yellow surface’s edges and then start sketching, as you’ll have the grid of the sketch-plan.
P.S. you can also save Sketch Plans and return to them later on from the “View Panel >> Captured Sketch Planes”
