Moving sketch planes?

I am really trying to be able to use Umake, but having difficulty moving sketch planes.
I am importing an.obj model into Umake, and want to be able to “draw” over it. I just want the model to give me context for my design, I don’t necessarily want my strokes to interact with the imported surface.
I make a sketch plane in the top view, but want it closer to the object, so I can kind of draw around it, being visible from both front and back views. After I make the sketch plain in the top view, I can’t see a “handle” with which to move the sketch plane, although I can see a rotate handle. If I zoom out, I can never see a move handle, so I go to a side view so I can move it from the side. I can see the move handle, but when I try to drag it away from or closer to my object, the sketch plane just move up or down (z axis?) and nothing I can do can move it in the x or y axis. It acts as though there is a movement (vertical) lock applied somewhere, but I cannot find anything…I have been through numerous videos, but cannot find anything that shows how to move the sketch plane.l
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Hi @lkoyle,

Thank you for reaching out!

Are you referring to editing the sketch plane’s position and rotation? Here’s a video I created that might help: CleanShot 2024-12-30 at 08.16.47 · CleanShot Cloud

Please note that when you edit a sketch plane, the “Lock” toggle button is enabled. This happens because the sketch plane stays in a “fixed” mode and cannot automatically adjust to the camera view during editing.

Let me know if this clarifies things!

Thanks,
Evi

Evi, thanks for responding to my question. I am getting a clearer understanding of the functionality now. It was the lock feature that was throwing me off, thanks for mentioning it in your reply.
I am also having difficulty with Umake recognizing my apple pencil (not the pro version, but current version on a 5th gen Ipad pro). I will start a separate topic on this.
thanks
